The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) marked the 2025 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month with a workshop for its staff at the Head Office and all four of its zonal offices namely, Kumasi, Sekondi, Sunyani and Tamale.

The workshop, which took place on Monday, 13th and Friday, 17th, October 2025, combined in-person and virtual sessions to enable the staff in the zonal offices to also fully participate and benefit from the training.

The theme for the workshop was “Building a Safe, Informed and Accountable Digital Space.” the workshop sought to build the capacity of staff with in-depth knowledge on cybersecurity, misinformation and disinformation, and human rights in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.

The objective of the workshop was also to improve staff awareness, enhance readiness, and build resilience against current and emerging cybersecurity threats at the ORC.

Mrs. Maame Samma Peprah, the Acting Registrar of Companies underscored the importance of the session, noting that as a data collection institution, the ORC is exposed to various cybersecurity threats.

She emphasized the need for staff to understand these risks and adopt preventive measures to protect the organization’s information systems.

The workshop was facilitated by a five-member team from the Cyber Security Authority. The team led discussions and practical sessions on emerging cybersecurity issues and best practices for data protection, global trends in cybersecurity, common vulnerabilities, and the methods used by cybercriminals to exploit institutions.

Mr. Acquaye delivered a presentation on cybersecurity incidents reported to the Authority, offering insights into common attack patterns and lessons for institutional prevention.
